Max moved to Japan in 2020. His original idea was to work in the car trade, a job for which he had been trained. In his search for work, he accidentally came into contact with Baba Hamono, who had a vacancy at the time. Attracted by the craft, Max was trained by no less than the best: he was able to follow his training as a sharpener under the guidance of Morihiro san, Nishida san and Myojin san. Under the watchful eye of Baba, Max now has his own series: Gokuyjo.
Due to circumstances, Max has stopped as of 2024 and the skilled craftsmen of Baba Hamono will continue this series.

Knives with a double-sharpened blade and a double shinogi are not new. The refinement with which Baba Hamono finishes his knives can certainly be called unique. The thinning of the blade has been so perfected that there is no unevenness, as you often have with cheaper inferior models. An extremely thin cutting surface provides unparalleled ease of cutting.
